Winemaker Notes
Reflecting the bright character and cool-climate structure of a classic Russian River Valley winegrowing season, our premier release of Migration Chardonnay offers an array of white flower, honeydew, apricot, white peach, pie crust and lemon custard aromatics. On the palate, stone fruit and custard layers are underscored by excellent acidity and subtle oak, creating a harmonious wine that accentuates the purity and charm of its fruit.
Production
The Russian River Valley experienced a dry winter and spring to start the 2008 growing season. After a heat spell in May, weather returned to the normal cycle of cool nights and warm days moderated by daily maritime fog. We worked with a variety of renowned vineyards to create the 2008 blend, with an emphasis on fruit from Green Valley, an especially cool region within the Russian River Valley. The long, mild growing season allowed the fruit to ripen slowly, producing classic bright Russian River Valley flavors with refreshing acidity.
