Winemaker Notes
A lush and evocative expression of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, this wine reveals aromas of Bing cherry, pomegranate and raspberry, as well as earthy undertones that add nuance and depth. On the palate, it is rich and luxurious, with layers of pure varietal fruit and baking spices, seamlessly integrated oak and a vibrant underlying acidity that carries the wine to a long, balanced finish.
Production
2017 offered idyllic growing conditions with plentiful winter and spring rains, which led to an excellent fruit set. While the summer was warm, with occasional heat spikes, healthy canopies and thoughtful pruning provided ideal dappled sunlight on the vines. Just as our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were achieving ideal ripeness, a major heat event hit the valley. The result was an extremely brisk harvest with long nights of hand-picking and days full of sorting, destemming and pressing. While the pace of harvest was challenging, the fruit came in beautifully, fermented flawlessly and yielded wines with vibrant fruit and lovely acidity.

I love this wine. Its light fruity and is my favorite treat yourself moment. I opened this bottle and paired it with sharp cheddar cheese and salumi plater of prosciutto, salumi, and mortadella. The sweet awesome wine balanced the sweet sharp cheese like a symphony! This was our mid-week celebration. The wine was so good we finished the whole bottle. I am particular on what wine I drink and this was outstanding. Totally pick this up to go with a steak dinner, as a hostess gift, or just a thank you for being you gift. I highly recommend this wine and cheers to you! I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, but all views are my own.

My husband and I enjoyed this 2017 Migration Russian River Valley Pinot Noir from Running Creek Vineyard while celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary. Wow, what a treat! We paired it with a dinner of wild caught Alaskan salmon, roasted brussel sprouts and warm freshly baked bread dipped in garlic infused olive oil. This dinner paired amazingly with the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. It was perfect for celebrating our anniversary. I would definitely recommend a salmon or sea food pairing. It has a complex flavor profile, with hints of raspberry and cherry. The wine had a medium body feel in the mouth, with a well balanced, elegant finish.

I received this bottle of 2017 Migration Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Running Creek Vineyard and immediately popped it open for an impromptu glass with a friend before she had to rush off. We also had a few nibbles of dark chocolate and some dried fruit it’s balance of rich and fresh juiciness was so good it was a good thing she had only a short time otherwise I probably would not have had any more to serve to my husband at date night. And a great treat for both occasions. But we had restraint 😊 and we were also able to enjoy the wine both with roasted chanterelle + goat cheese crostini and grilled sirloin + blackberry beurre blanc sauce. It was amazing with everything and I will be serving it again when hosting Thanksgiving. A great choice because it will pair with all parts of the meal and be universally loved by all and although I completed this review in exchange for compensation and free product, all views are my own.

My partner and I recently paired this 2017 Migration Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Running Creek Vineyard with our dinner of roast chicken and fall veggies and dressed leafy greens. The rich earthy flavors of this wine paired perfectly with these hearty fall harvest foods. The hint of spice pleasantly lingers on the palette. I’m excited to offer this nuanced and balanced wine to our guests at our annual Thanksgiving gathering as I know it will pair perfectly with all of the classic comforting holiday dishes we are serving. We enjoyed this wine with a rustic pizza dinner and found some interesting results. The first thing I noticed was the rich color of the wine. It matches the color of the neck band around the bottle - a deep burgundy color. Next, I could detect a light spiced aroma that is mentioned in the description as baking spices. I noticed such a difference in flavor depending on what I was eating at the moment. It went great with the beef pizza we had. And when I ate it with the Asian chopped salad it was a marriage made in heaven. It completely smoothed out the wine. However, it did not pair so well with the spicy pepperoni, The two flavors together seemed to conflict more than complement one another. I would suggest this for a holiday meal or special dinner.
