2021 Migration Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay Peake Ranch Vineyard
In Stock
Highlighting lush, layered flavors, bright acidity and impeccably balanced French oak, Migration is dedicated to crafting wines from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions. This dedication led us to Santa Barbara County’s renowned Sta. Rita Hills AVA, where Peake Ranch has emerged as one of the Central Coast’s most exciting vineyards. Grown on a steep, northwest-facing slope cooled by clockwork wine and fog off the Pacific, the Wente Clone vines on our prized block of Peake Ranch yield a radiant Chardonnay that combines verve and tension with alluring citrus flavors and sophisticated hints of orange blossom and sea spray minerality.

Winemaker Notes
Grown on the cool, northwest-facing slopes of Peake Ranch, this is a sleek and sophisticated Chardonnay, with enticing aromas of lime zest, lemon, pear, stone fruit and flinty minerality. Offering lovely verve and tension on the palate, it dazzles with vibrant layers of apricot, citrus and wet slate, with hints of orange blossom and sea spray emerging on the bright, focused finish.
Production
The growing season kicked off with a January rain event that brought 50% of the region’s seasonal rainfall in under three days, followed by an extremely dry February and March, with cool temperatures delaying budbreak until mid-March in the Santa Lucia Highlands and Sta. Rita Hills. Summer brought mild temperatures, with cool mornings and abundant fog that helped lengthen the growing season, yielding grapes with great natural acidity and complex flavors. The mild weather continued until harvest, producing energetic white wines with beautiful tropical layers and refreshing minerality, and profoundly concentrated Pinot Noirs with lush layers of blue fruit and savory spice.
